There was already a 'Metaverse' before Zuckerberg thought he came up with the idea. It's called Second Life by Linden Labs and is already a thriving community and has been for quite sometime.
I literally spent two years in there as an avatar called Kairos Mode, as well as having two 'Alt's' or alternate avatars called Candle Breadbin and Space Greyman who both worked on my virtual magazine called 'Limelight'. I even got virtually married in a ceremony in a nice virtual church, it was well mad.
Some of the virtual clubs in SL, where you can listen to Live music, artists streaming into SL from all over the world, AboutTime did two gigs, have a policy where you can't Push or Walk into other avatars as it's classed as disrespectful. This fascinated me to be honest, so I wrote this song and got some SL women who I knew to say Push Push on their mics which I captured and then put into the song. I still keep in touch over Skype even now with a few of them and my main SL avatar, Kairos, is still a member, I need to go back in and get my virtual stuff out lol.
